Why the BIBLE

I want to be as honest as I can be in this blog: sometimes, reading the Bible is difficult. It seems oddly worded, has mixed metaphors and like all good literature, has many layers. But the great thing about the Bible is that it is living, and LIFE pours from it. Maybe you don’t get it right away, but press in and you will.
One thing I will endeavor to do here is to examine both step by step and line by line what ever scripture I want to talk about that day. Isaiah 28:10 says (KJV) For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: and Psalm 119:27 says Make me to understand the way of Thy precepts; so shall I talk of Thy wondrous works.
I am no great apologist and I don't know all the answers. Searching for those is kind of the point of studying, but I firmly promise to always do my best, and listen to the Holy Spirit when writing this for you.
Today we are just going to look at the above highlighted verse. Ps. 119:27

Herein lies the heart of what a relationship with God is about: getting to know Him so we can understand how to talk about Him and His wonderful works to others.

Sometimes we need to have people in our lives MAKE US UNDERSTAND, whether that is a Math teacher, a parent explaining something to a teenager, or Keynesian Economics.“But the Bible is hard” you say? Well, yeah, and?
There are a couple of things that are really cool about this verse. First the Hebrew word for understand (biyn) means the following: understand (duh), consider, prudent, (as in applicable to you) regard, discern, and INSTRUCT.
In one word (understand) in this scripture we see God's plan for propagating the Gospel. Consider the validity of God's love and plan for you. It is prudent in today's world and applicable to your life. Hold God's love in high regard, and discern what it is saying to you today, then instruct others in the love of God, and all His works.
The second cool thing about this verse is the word talk (siyach in Hebrew). If anyone knows me personally, you can attest to the fact I LOVE TO TALK! More than I love to read or write, I love to talk. We were made to commune-acate(sic), to converse, to speak. In this scripture, the word talk means several things: to put forth, mediate, muse, commune, speak, complain, sing, study, to put forth thoughts. I love that the same word means so much.

Psalms 119:27 Make me to understand the way of Thy precepts; so shall I talk of Thy wondrous works.
The first part of this definition to put forth and mediate, make me think of lawyers. Lawyers understand the law and know how to present their point of views about the law in an effective way. Muse over that for a moment. God created the world (Genesis 1) and then man so that He would have someone to commune with. Now that is an interesting word. com·mune to converse or talk intimately together, usually with profound intensity and intimacy.
He wanted us to speak about Him and his goodness. He even expected us to complain to one another because He knew we wouldn't always get it and we would occasionally need some direction and guidance. He wanted us to sing about His goodness and His works and finally, to put forth our own personal thoughts about them too. Thus this blog.
When God gave me this idea, it was a flash of something, but in that moment He communicated to me how He wanted me to learn His Ways and surrender to them, and then share with you all the wonderful things to come from it, and from Him. May His word move you, grow in you and change you. May it strengthen you and make you bold. May you understand it, and talk about it and HIM from this day forward. Be blessed and be a blessing. Love is a verb.
