Where to From Here?

This life is a journey and sometimes it feels like there is no map. We jump on a train that will take us to "The Future" and begin barreling toward it. Sometimes we have a destination in mind. Sometimes we know our calling.

Other times we stand on the edge of one season of our lives looking forward to the next leg of our journey and suddenly we realize we do not know where to go from here.

Without a map to guide us, we can feel lost. Some make it up as they go. Some take it as a sign that they need to "find themselves". Others move ahead determined to do something, anything, as long as it seems to be going forward.

Sometimes though, the best next thing to do is wait.

Waiting Takes Understanding

Last night I attended an event that celebrated young girls who have achieved wonderful things. These girls have read the Bible through, memorized large portions of scripture, been taught how to lead someone to the Lord, and developed overall as young women who will one day lead in the body of Christ.

They have given their heart to Jesus, let Him shape their world, and are finding out His purpose for their life.

They ranged in age from 11 to 18 and each have a wonderful future ahead of them. How do I know? Because the word of God says so.

God has plans for them and He has plans for you. You may not realize what they are yet. Do not lose heart. Do not forget whose child you are. God does not leave the righteous forsaken, or His kids begging for the scraps at the table of life. He gives abundantly more than you can ask, or even think.

Waiting is a word that I love. It has so many meanings. It can mean passing time in anticipation of a coming event or happening, and it can mean serving another (as a waiter does). It can mean "to be in a state of readiness", a delayed event or it can mean to look forward eagerly.  Combining these meanings is the greatest fulfillment of that word and I believe where we will derive the greatest satisfaction in life, no matter what season we are in.

When we wait for direction from the Lord, fully anticipating that He does have good things planned for us, and we wait on others (serve) while we are passing time waiting for our "next steps", and look forward in readiness to a delayed event (our future)  a wonderful thing seems to happen: our future finds us.

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. " Romans 8:28 NKJV
He is already at work on your behalf. God cares about you and He wants to use you. You have a purpose and a greater meaning than even you know.

So put your hand to the plow! Find a way to serve God by serving others and just continue to seek Him and Love Him with everything you are. As you serve and love God, and serve and love people you will find what you are looking for. With God, all things are possible.

Right now you are being prepared. So make your heart and you neck soft before God, Bow to what He says. Surrender to His guidance and you will have your way made clear.
